01 Summary

Snap-fit sensor bracket

Inventors: Sample Inventor A, Sample Inventor B · Prepared 16 Oct 2026

What it is

A bracket that holds a cylindrical sensor without screws. Pressing one tab releases the sensor. Two small tabs stop it rattling.

The problem it solves

Field technicians swap sensors on poles and ceilings. Screw mounts take two hands and a tool, often on a ladder.

What’s different

  • 14 One-finger release. A flexible tab frees the sensor without a tool.
  • 16 No rattle. Two retention tabs on one arm hold the sensor without play.
  • 18 Three sizes, one cradle. The seat fits 18, 22 and 25 mm sensors.

03 How it works

Steps

  1. Mount the base plate 10 with two screws, once.
  2. Push the sensor into the cradle 12 until the retention tabs 16 click over it.
  3. To remove it, press the release tab 14. The right arm flexes out and the sensor lifts free.

Variations

  • A metal spring arm instead of molded plastic.
  • A magnetic seat for 18 mm sensors.

Who invented what

  • Inventor A: cradle and retention tabs
  • Inventor B: release-tab geometry

When it was shown or sold

  • 12 Mar 2026 Demo at a regional trade show
  • Apr 2026 Four units sold to friends

Searched: published US patents and applications, full text, Jan 2000 to Oct 2026, using terms built from parts 14 to 18.

Not searched: foreign patents, research papers, products already on sale.

14 One-finger release
Sample A · published patent

“A flexible tab engages the module edge and releases under finger pressure.”

Described in a source
16 No rattle
Sample B · published application

“Opposed detents retain the housing against vibration.”

Partly: one detent per side, not two tabs on one arm
18 Three sizes, one cradle

05 Questions for your attorney

  1. Does Sample A’s tab already cover our release, or does one-finger, no-tool removal matter?

  2. Is fitting three sensor sizes in one cradle worth describing on its own?

  3. We showed it publicly on 12 Mar 2026. What does that mean for our timing?

  4. Should the metal spring-arm version be described too?

Next step: send this packet to a registered patent attorney or agent. The USPTO keeps a public list of them.
